Another DIY Budget Pannier

Military surplus is a gift to mankind.  Small consolation perhaps for death and destruction and sorrow, but oh well.

An easy DIY pannier is to simply find an appropriate-sized bag with usable attachment points and lash it onto your rear rack.

In this case, they are using surplus “bread sacks.” These are shoulder bags used by soldiers before the freeze-dired MRE meals of the last 20 years.

Searching for “shoulder” bags or “bread” bags gets the most hits – see what is available. There are military surplus sites on the internet.

The Swiss bread bags that were around several years ago, for really cheap, had have attachment loops. Some of the shoulder bags though do not, and more ingenuity will be required. Try a google search.
