Is “new” better? It’s sure more expensive.

Compare and Contrast:

The 1920-1960’s Lyotard “Berthet” touring pedal:

Steel. Note especially lightweight at all. Discontinued. Loose ball bearings. ~ 13 oz. (368 g).  A cult item on eBay, averaging $75 a pair. 30-50 years old.

VS.

The White Industries Urban Platform pedal. Lightweight aluminum, state-of-the-art stainless steel spindle and sealed cartridge bearings. 322 grams. Shiny and new. ~$225.
